THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE
Manhattan Theatre Club: Stage Two
City Center
131 West 55th Street

Charles Busch, author of such Off-Off Broadway hits as Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, Psycho Beach Party and Red Scare on Sunset, returns to the New York stage with his newest farce, following a successful run in Los Angeles. Set in contemporary Manhattan, a wealthy Upper West Side matron and her distracted husband are greeted by an eeriely familiar face. The visitor instigates a series of events moving towards the staid couple's psycho-sexual liberation, all done with Busch's usually healthy dose of wicked satire and social commentary. Starring Broadway, theatre and TV veterans: Tony-winner Linda Lavin (Broadway Bound, 1986; title character on CBS-TV's "Alice"), Tony-nominated Tony Roberts (Victor/Victoria and Sugar on Broadway, and the films Play it Again, Sam and Annie Hall), and Tony-nominated Michele Lee (Seesaw, 1974; and Karen on CBS-TV's "Knots Landing").
