LATE NITE CATECHISM

St. Luke's Church
308 West 46th Street
between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Maripat Donovan plays a zealous sister giving instruction and threatening discipline in this irreverent, interactive comedy about Catholic school and overdue contrition. 'Late Nite Catechism' is an uproarious piece of theater that takes the audience (members of the class) back to the children they once were. Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding students with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant. Sound familiar? Critics say one needn't be a Catholic to relate to Sister; one need merely to have survived the ups and downs of going to school with an omniscient authoritarian at the helm.
